YUSUF'S AND THE PADISAH'S DREAMS AND THE IDENTIFICATION OF MOTIFS IN ÇÂKERÎ'S YUSUF U ZULEYHA MUSNAVI
ABSTRACT
The dream motif and dream interpretations are important in the religion of Islam. In the story mentioned in
Surah Yusuf in the Qur'an, the dream motif and the interpretations of dreams have a special value. In our
study, first of all, theoretical information about dream and dream interpretation definitions are given. In
addition, the presence of these dreams and their interpretations in the Qur'an's Surah Yusuf and the Torah is
indicated. The dreams of Yusuf and the Sultan in the Yusuf u Züleyha Masnavi of Çâkerî, one of the masnavi
poets of the 15th century, and the motifs of the dreams are interpreted.
