A REVIEW ON PLACE AND FİCTİONAL PLACE IN OĞUZ ATAY’S KORKUYU BEKLERKEN

ABSTRACT

As a literary narrative, the story deals with real life, time, place, people and action in a fictional language. The space constituting the narrative is in the role of places in which situations and events are presented. At the same time, the place determines the boundaries of the areas where the plot takes place, and is not a tool in the narrative, but is related to all the characters that make up the story. While fictional spaces in literary texts present alternatives to real spaces, the storms of the people in the narrative are positioned around the real world axis with the author's fiction. In our study, the stories in Oğuz Atay’s story book Korkuyu Beklerken will be examined through the elements of space and fictional place. By emphasizing the origin, meaning, usage and types of the word space, it will be determined how the relationship between object and space is established. These analyzes will be determined by reference to Manfred Jahn’s Analtıbilim – Anlatı Teorisi El Kitabı and Bahar Dervişcemaloğlu’s Anlatıbilime Giriş. The relationship between the location descriptions in the stories Beyaz Mantolu Adam, Unutulan, Korkuyu Beklerken, Bir Mektup, Ne Evet Ne Hayır, Tahta At, Babama Mektup, Demiryolu Hikâyecileri and Bir Rüya with the narrative situations in the narrative will also be emphasized.
