The Effects of the Textbooks Used in the Macedonian Language and Literature Primary Education Curriculum in the Republic of North Macedonia Which Deal with the Rule of the Ottoman Empire Upon Macedonian Students

ABSTRACT

This research article identifies the ethnic and religious prejudices stated in the content of the reading books dealing with the rule of the Ottoman Empire in the primary schools of the Republic of North Macedonia, and additionally, criticizes the prejudices, personal opinions and different cultures and traditions of primary school students from different nations studying in the Republic of North Macedonia It foresees to enable them to shape their thoughts within the scope of tolerance, to develop their feelings of empathy, to respect differences, to establish a healthy dialogue and interaction, and to create strategies and mechanisms to reduce and overcome prejudices within the framework of the curriculum. The research, on the other hand, aims to systematically investigate the universal, humane and shared values that are stated in the content of the Macedonian Language and Literature curriculum in the primary schools of the Republic of North Macedonia, which will contribute to loving and respecting differences, overcoming differences and creating an environment of mutual tolerance. In this context, it aims to develop the educational system by emphasizing the definitions of tolerance, unity and solidarity.
