PROF. DR. MEHMET SAMSAKÇI

He was born in 1981 in Mustafa Kemal Paşa district of Bursa. He studied at 14 Eylül Primary School and completed his secondary and high school education at Sedat Karan Anatolian High School, which he entered in 1992-1993 academic year and graduated in 1999. In the same year, he entered Istanbul University, Faculty of Literature, Department of Turkish Language and Literature and graduated in 2003. In the same year, he enrolled in the Master's program and completed his thesis entitled "Fine Arts in Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar's Works" under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Kâzım Yetiş.(2005) Again in 2005, he started his doctoral studies in the previous mentioned department. Between 2003 and 2006, he worked as an archive and museum officer at the Yahya Kemal Institute. In December 2006, he was appointed as a Research Assistant in the New Turkish Literature Chair in the department where he graduated and continued his doctoral studies. In December 2010, he received the title of Dr. with his thesis entitled "The Other Side of the Perception of Party/Partisanship in the Transition to Multi-Party Life in the Turkish Novel (1909-1980)". In November 2012, he was appointed as Assistant Prof. Dr. at Istanbul University Faculty of Literature, Department of Turkish Language and Literature, Department of New Turkish Literature, and as Assoc. Prof. Dr. in April 2016 and Prof. Dr. as of October 2021. Samsakçı gave lectures at the Department of Turcology, Faculty of Philology, Pristina University within the scope of the Yunus Emre InstituteTurcology Project in the 2012-2013 Academic Year, and was appointed as the Director of the Skopje Yunus Emre Turkish Cultural Center in 2015.

Mr. Samsakçı continues to work at Istanbul University, Faculty of Literature, Department of Turkish Language and Literature, Department of New Turkish Literature and has been assigned as a guest lecturer to the International Balkan University, Faculty of Education, Department of Turkish Education in the 2024-2025 Academic Year.
