In the last decade the integration of Information and communication technology (ICT) tools has become
the main focus of many studies. The technological advancements are seen in every sector, including
education where the traditional teaching methods are being replaced with application of different ICT
tools for learning and teaching purposes. The educators nowadays aim to respond to the new generation
of students so called digital natives because they are being raised in a digital, media-saturated world. Selfregulated learning is closely connected to the ICT tools because it helps learners to control their own
learning and reflect on their weakness.
The present study investigates 74 EFL students of two units: Faculty of Languages Cultures and
Communication and Language Center of the South East European University. The study uses two
different research methods: a student questionnaire consisting of four different parts, Learners’
background, Perceptions of ICTs, Perceptions towards the Use of ICTs for Self- Regulated learning, and
Perceptions towards the use of ICT for Metacognitive Regulation. Additionally, there was analysis of
Google Classroom students’ reflections and assignments submitted for evaluation.
Findings from the questionnaire and Google Classroom reflections proved that students hold positive
attitudes toward the use of ICTs for their learning because they help them to monitor and plan their
learning better.

This paper introduces and examines the issue of evaluation along a different perspective. It argues that
feedback regarding the teaching, the learning and the materials used is crucial for the ongoing professional
development of teachers. It also presents different points of view regarding evaluation such as ones’
cultural awareness, level of acceptance, the issue of judging etc. The fact that others involved in the
process are the ones that as so, have a say in what we do, is usually a fact that is not so easily accepted by
teachers. It is either not part of the culture, part of our awareness or even part of our daily challenge.
However, the level of self-improvement relies on the whole process of evaluation. As so, this paper further
elaborates the issue of self-improvement through self-evaluation and student involvement in the process
through course evaluation. Participants in the case study are a total of 33 third year students, registered in
the course of Program Development at IBU. The instruments used tend to make a balance among the
elements of teaching and course evaluation and therefore consist of both elements i.e. the teacher and the
students (as the observers) along the semester. Regarding self-evaluation (teaching), two instruments are
used: a classroom management profile questionnaire and an observation checklist on the teaching
elements (the teaching, material, presentation, feedback and discussions) and in terms of course
evaluation an additional two instruments are used: student feedback (The Exit Ticket) and the students’
overall exam scores and results for the course i.e. midterm, final, makeup and upgrade exam are taken
into consideration. Overall discussion, limitations and future recommendations are also provided.

This article investigates the use of Project-Based Learning (PBL) in EAP and ESP courses in higher
education in order to improve students’ academic reading skills in English. These courses aim to develop
students’ critical thinking skills and prepare them to use English in an academic setting. Students lack
motivation to read, which prevents them from enhancing their reading skills despite their high language
proficiency. The study tries to answer the following questions: 1. Can Project-Based Learning enhance
academic reading skills in ESP and EAP courses? and 2. What type of activities are most suitable for
developing academic reading skills? The given hypothesis tested was that PBL significantly improves
students’ academic reading skills in comparison to traditional teaching methods. An experimental research
design was used to analyze and compare the data of the experimental and control groups. The results of
the independent and dependent t-tests confirm the hypothesis (experimental group pre-test M= 19,77 and
post-test M=22,62, p= ,000; control group pre-test M=19,95 and post-test M=19,3, p= ,139). Reading
activities include materials related to students’ field of study taken from ESP courses, course books
students use in the field-related courses, and online resources. Project assignments motivate EFL learners
to read materials they find useful and interesting.

The Communicative Approach is believed to be the most successful current foreign or second language
teaching method. Because of the need for development, using the Communicative Approach in the EFL
classrooms in Albania, and incorporating it into the curriculum design is extremely beneficial, but
establishing a climate conducive to the best learning and ensuring the desired results is quite complex and
time consuming. Students are accustomed to being taught utilizing traditional teaching techniques in the
challenging Albanian educational environment. Teachers must, however, move away from conventional
approaches and toward more modern ones, such as the Communicative Approach. As a result, the focus
will be on the learners' language requirements and assisting instructors in achieving their objectives.
However, because more contact and engagement in class can lead to a significant increase in students'
conversation time, this practice necessitates the use of effective classroom management measures.
The purpose of this research is to see how the Communicative Approach may help students improve their
communication skills. It addresses some of the issues and provides recommendations for successful
application within the Albanian curriculum. Furthermore, it is hoped that the Communicative Approach
would not only be presented as a positive approach regarding teaching and learning process, but that it
will also equip educators and curriculum developers with some practical methods and processes for
putting Communicative Language Teaching into practice.

National anthems are one of the earliest forms of universal symbols which unify communities and create
a strong bond among individuals. They include the significant values of a nation and arouse intense
feelings since they are usually written after an important victory in a country’s history and are performed
orally in a loud manner altogether with a sense of identification. However, they have not undergone
extended research so far in the scope of literature as the context and the performance of them have been
the main focus of interest. Indeed, national anthems are regarded as not only significant components of
oral culture but also contributors of the genre of epic poetry after they are put into written form. For this
study, with the hope of providing further research to the area, national anthems of England, the USA and
France have been selected as the core sources to be evaluated in accordance with the methodology of
textual analysis. The reason behind this choice is to relate the concept of anthems to literature specifically
English Literature; thus, anthems of England and the USA have been prioritized. Since these two countries
have been in close interaction and had respectable relationships with France for decades, the national
anthem of France has been found appropriate as the third item of the analysis. The results of the study
have shown that though they may differ in tone, the level of God’s influence and in the use of combining
other national elements, anthems present similar patterns and are personified with the attribution of
patriotic and stimulating characteristics, which result in the formation of a national identity embracing
every segment of the nation holistically. It is concluded that anthems play an important part in maintaining
the unity of a nation and in creating a sense of belongingness among its citizens proving once again the
intrinsic unitary power of literature and literary works simultaneously.

From numerous researches and different theoretical approaches, well-being is considered as an umbrella
term that covers different aspects. According to the World Health Organization, “Well-being is a state in
which the individual realizes their potential, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work
productively and fruitfully, and is able to contribute to their community.” (cited in Wistoft, 2012:1) Due
to its multidimensional nature, literature speaks about the emotional, social, pedagogical and
psychological well-being. In the educational context, students’ well-being is important, since it
contributes to students’ overall positive perspective of life, feelings of joy and optimism, but it also has a
positive influence on achieving better academic results.
The aim of this paper is to examine the level of the psychological subjective well-being among university
students in regards to six different dimensions and to explore students’ opinions about the possibilities
that the university can offer for the purpose of improving students’ well-being. The survey was conducted
on a sample of 106 students at International Balkan University in Skopje, North Macedonia.
Results have shown that students have a moderate level of psychological subjective well-being, with the
highest score in the Personal growth and the lowest in the Positive relations with other subscales. Based
on their opinions, recommendations for improvement are given. They refer to four main aspects:
Curriculum interventions, Leisure activities, Social activities and Counseling services.

In this paper we analyze and explore the different challenges that parents face with aggressive children
from the theoretical perspective. Positive parenting is a concept which in many studies and theoretical
approaches is suggested to be taken into consideration in the education process. Parenting is a complex
process, which includes multidimensional factors and actions taken by parents and teachers, educators
and all other professionals who directly or indirectly are involved in the process of the children’s
development and education. Being a parent does not mean that you play the role of parent as the only one,
but in any case, the presence of your children and their behavior is also important in this role, which
means that one depends on the other and that one role determines the other, e.g. authoritarian parents
usually make their children behave aggressively, withdrawn children let us know that their parents are
neglectful etc. School counseling and psychology suggests a close collaboration between three main
pillars; family, school and pupils to avoid misbehaviors in all forms.
Numerous contemporary studies often talk about parenting and challenges in raising children,
highlighting parenting as a global challenge that carries not only simple education but a multidisciplinary
task. Balancing the needs and demands of children that parents face is not easy at all, and all parents feel
stressed from time to time.

Substance abuse and addiction have become global problems, especially among adolescents and young
adults. Many young people develop addictions to other substances and stimulants with comparable effects
to narcotics. Substance abuse is a significant concern within the medical profession, particularly for
psychiatry, psychology, social workers, and researchers. Exposure to drug use and misuse has been shown
to be related to adverse effects on physical and mental health. The data for this study was obtained through
an online questionnaire. The Canadian Student Tobacco, Alcohol, and Drug Survey was the primary
survey tool and was subsequently localized into Albanian. To meet the criteria of the survey, more
questions were included. The survey was structured into eight sections. The questionnaire was composed
of 32 statements, in total, 110 people. Our survey data shows that gatherings are the most common setting
for cannabis use, followed by homes and schools.
Substances taken with a doctor's prescription are prone to abuse and misuse. 42% of respondents said that
they have used a prescribed medication despite the fact that they did not have a doctor's prescription for
it. Substance use disorder can lead to neglecting relationships, neglecting family, and confrontations or
fights. It is essential to improve the education of our young people, and it is essential for clinicians to be
mindful of whom they prescribe medications to.

As a literary narrative, the story deals with real life, time, place, people and action in a fictional language. The
space constituting the narrative is in the role of places in which situations and events are presented. At the
same time, the place determines the boundaries of the areas where the plot takes place, and is not a tool in the
narrative, but is related to all the characters that make up the story. While fictional spaces in literary texts
present alternatives to real spaces, the storms of the people in the narrative are positioned around the real
world axis with the author's fiction. In our study, the stories in Oğuz Atay’s story book Korkuyu Beklerken
will be examined through the elements of space and fictional place. By emphasizing the origin, meaning,
usage and types of the word space, it will be determined how the relationship between object and space is
established.

Zeynel Beksaç's Rumeli, O Benim İşte! Collected Poems (1971-2017) was published by Türkçem Publications
in 2017. Considering this work of Beksaç, how he dealt with the concept of Rumelia in his poems was
examined. The frequent mention of the word Rumelia in the poet's works is proof that this problematic has a
significance. The main source of this work is the book Rumeli, O Benim İşte!. As a result of scanning and
examinations, it has been detected that the concept of Rumelia is mentioned in eighteen poems. When we
look at the subject in this motto and approach it with a biographical reading, it is quite natural that a poet who
lives in Rumelia always takes his hometown as an issue, keeps it on his agenda, and has various meanings in
his poems. Along with the analysis of the poems, many concepts such as migration, tears, pain, longing,
Turkish identity struggle etc. in Rumelia overlap. As a safe harbor to shelter from negativities, the poet
positions Turkish language as a guardian of Rumelia. The major point stressed in the main framework is the
change of demographic structure after the withdrawal of the Ottoman Empire from these lands, the identity
struggle with the new regimes, and the tragic situations reflected in art. It is stated that Rumelia can survive
with Turkish language yet.

With globalization, the view that the target language should be dominant in foreign language teaching classes
and that students’s mother tongue is not included as much as possible has also become questionable. Today
the understanding that the mother tongue and culture of the students in foreign language classes cannot be
ignored and that the language experiences of the students can be used as an auxiliary element in the language
teaching process, not as an obstacle is discussed. At this point, translanguaging came to the fore and the
opinion that students can use all the languages in their repertoire according to their needs has emerged.
According to translanguaging, if multilingual applications are made prevalent in language learning classes,
the rhetorical effects of the texts produced by the students will enrich the education process. It is possible to
enrich the education process with including translingual writing in teaching Turkish as a foreign language
classes.

      <content_alt>
Küreselleşme ile birlikte yabancı dil öğretim sınıflarında hâkim olan hedef dilin baskın olması ve öğrencilerin
ana dillerine olabildiğince yer verilmemesi görüşü de sorgulanır hâle gelmiştir.
